Xiaomi launches its Black Shark 4 Pro gaming phone in Singapore, Digital News
A year after its initial launch, Xiaomi brings its Black Shark 4 Pro gaming phone in the international market. The phone was launched in Singapore during an event at the Kallang Esports Experience Center.
Under the hood is a Snapdragon 888, which is expected considering the phone was announced in March 2021. Other features include 120W HyperCharge, with which Xiaomi claims to be able to charge the Black Shark 4 Pro to 50% in five minutes and 100% in less than 15 minutes. That power will go to a 4500mAh dual-cell battery.
As for the display, it has a fast 6.67-inch 144Hz AMOLED screen (although it’s a 1080p screen). Interestingly, it is also pressure sensitive. This gives you additional triggers to use, which Xiaomi calls “Magic Touch”. You can also adjust the pressure needed to press these triggers.
The Black Shark 4 Pro is also quite up to date when it comes to storage and memory; using LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 standards respectively. As a Snapdragon 888 phone, it is also 5G capable, and being a gaming phone, it also has a few features to spice up the mobile gaming experience.
These include physical pop-up triggers, which you can also map to other handy functions like taking screenshots and booting up and recording audio. Software-wise, the phone runs JoyUI 12.5, a gaming-focused user interface based on Xiaomi’s MIUI 12.
Availability and prices
The Black Shark 4 Pro is available now at Black Shark’s Lazada and Shopee stores for $999. It comes in a single 12GB + 256GB configuration, and while it comes in two colors, Shadow Black and Misty Grey, it’s only available in the latter.
On the plus side, you get a free magnetic cooler worth S$79. If you have the KaiKai app, you might want to check there as well, as the company is offering the Black Shark 4 Pro for S$100 off.
