The iQOO 8 series is set to debut on August 17; Flagship Gaming Phone India Needs?
[ad_1]
iQOO is set to launch its new line of iQOO 8 gaming smartphones, which would be introduced with the iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro. Early rumors suggested the brand would launch both smartphones on August 4. However, the company has confirmed its launch for the third week of August.

The upcoming iQOO series was officially announced ahead of launch, where the company revealed the leading display specs. We are talking about Samsung LTPO E5 AMOLED display with 2K screen resolution. The upcoming lineup is rumored to include the latest generation Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC as well. Here’s all you need to know:
Do we need flagship gaming phones in India?
The Indian public has not only been a fan of budget and mid-range smartphones, there is also a niche segment that demands flagship and gaming devices. IQOO is one of the few brands with expertise in gaming-oriented smartphones. The iQOO 7 and iQOO 7 Legend are such offerings which have been well received by gaming enthusiasts in India.
The iQOO 8 series should come with an improved feature set for better gaming and overall user experience. There are a handful of devices driven by Qualcomm’s current Snapdragon 888 premium processor. The iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro are said to feature the overclocked version of the SD 888 SoC i.e. Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC.
There is no new phone on the horizon known to work with the aforementioned processor in the Indian market. The iQOO 8 series could be the first to feature Qualcomm’s highest-end Snapdragon 5G processor. It would definitely be a treat for game users who need a slightly user-friendly product.
This given that iQOO has kept pricing on the lower end of the spectrum, which in turn places its devices in the flagship value segment. The same can be expected for the iQOO 8 and the iQOO 8 Pro. That said, when can we finally expect its launch in India and when will the official global launch take place? Read below:
When is the iQOO 8 series officially launched?
The iQOO 8 series is scheduled to debut on August 17 in China. As mentioned earlier, we’ll likely see the iQOO 8 Pro launch alongside the standard variant. The launch is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. local time (5:00 p.m. IST). The company could host an online launch event that would likely stream on the company’s official YouTube channel and other social networks.
The company disclosed this information through its official Weibo ID. Unfortunately, the brand is silent with the details of the launch of the iQOO 8 series in India and around the world. We’re not sure if we’ll see both iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro later this month or next month in the country. But, we expect the brand to reveal some information soon.
IQOO 8 Series Rumored Features
The iQOO 8 series is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 Plus processor. We’ll likely see up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of on-board storage. The company would also add support for 4GB of virtual RAM. Both units would ship with Android 11 OS.

iQOO itself has teased the display specs for the iQOO 8 series. The company will use a Samsung E5 AMOLED LTPO display with 2K + screen resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. So, not just the processor, the iQOO 8 series would be the first in its segment to offer this high resolution Samsung panel.
The display will include a punch hole and an in-display fingerprint reader. Camera specifications are general. However, the leaks slanted 160W and 120W Flash Charge for the iQOO 8 Pro and iQOO 8 respectively.
