Black Shark 5 Pro, Xiaomi’s flagship gaming phone, is coming to Nepal. What can you expect on the device?

Black Shark 5 Pro is the flagship gaming smartphone from the Chinese smartphone manufacturing company Xiaomi. The company has made the phone available for pre-order in China. You can expect this product in the Nepalese market in a few months.

It’s also the successor to last year’s Black Shark 4 Pro. The latest version offers a number of upgrades over its predecessor. Upgrades can be seen both in terms of design and features on this phone.

Black Shark 5 Pro offers many great features for users. The phone has a better display supporting higher refresh rate as well as higher touch sampling rate. The phone is also powered by the latest powerful chipset and has a 108MP camera. The phone also supports an incredibly fast charging system that will fully charge the phone in no time.

Black Shark 5 Pro has revamped its design and offers a better and more futuristic design, presenting it as a gaming smartphone. The phone has a glass construction on the front and back while there is a frame in aluminium, thus enhancing the build quality of the phone.

On the front, the phone has a small punch-hole that houses a camera. On the side, the phone has two magnetic shoulder buttons that can be activated with a physical switch. The volume button rests on the left side while the power button is on the right side. This button also functions as a fingerprint sensor. On the back is the redesigned camera module along with new graphics.

The phone weighs around 220 grams and is 9.5mm thick. It is available in two color options: black and white.

Black Shark 5 Pro features a 6.67-inch OLED display with a maximum resolution of 1080*2400 pixels. The display supports HDR 10+ features ensuring enhanced color and contrast for better viewing experience. The phone’s screen supports a massive refresh rate of 144Hz, which is probably the highest on a smartphone. Another impressive feature of the phone is that it has a touch sampling rate of 720Hz which can be extremely useful while gaming.

Although cameras are not a major concern on a gaming smartphone, Black Shark 5 Pro managed to offer a 108MP triple camera array. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie shooter. The 108 MP main camera on the back is housed with a 13 MP ultra wide lens, 120 degrees FOV and a 5 MP macro lens. The phone also has a newly designed RGB light on the back that can be customized while gaming.

The phone’s camera can record video in 4K resolution at 30 fps while it can record video in 1080p resolution at up to 960 fps which can be great for slow motion videos. The front camera can only record videos in 1080p resolution.

Black Shark 5 Pro runs on Android 12 with JoyUI 13 on top. JoyUI is a gaming-focused variant of the MIUI user interface, developed by Black Shark for its gaming smartphones. The phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4nm) chipset while graphics demands are handled by Adreno 730.

For cooling, there are large twin vapor chambers on the phone. With those cooling vapors on the board, heating up the phone during intense gaming sessions shouldn’t be a problem. It is also a must-have feature on a gaming smartphone.

For storage, Black Shark 5 Pro comes with 8GB, 12GB and 16GB of fast LPDDR5 RAM while the phone’s internal storage has a split storage system. Storage on the phone is split equally between an NVMe SSD and UFS 3.1 storage. Additionally, it comes with either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. There is no space for a microSD card on this phone.

Battery life, audio and more

Black Shark 5 Pro has a 4,650mAh non-removable li-po battery that feels even less on a gaming phone. But, the phone made up for in battery life by providing 120W fast charging The company claims that the phone can be fully charged from 0% in just 15 minutes. This is a nice feature on a gaming phone, as gaming sessions can last for hours.

For audio, Black Shark 5 Pro offers two stereo speakers and also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. This phone ranks at the top of the DxOMark audio rankings. An excellent hearing experience can be expected from the phone.

For connectivity, it has a dual SIM slot that supports 5G connectivity. It also supports dual-band Wifi and has Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless connectivity with other devices. The phone is NFC-enabled and supports GPS. Black Shark 5 Pro uses a USB-Type-C 2.0 cable to charge and connect the phone to other devices.

Black Shark 5 Pro is priced at CNY 4,199 for 8/256 GB, CNY 4,699 for 12/256 GB and CNY 5,499 for the 12/512 GB variant. There is no official phone launch news in Nepal. But if launched here, you can expect a price range between Rs 85,000 and Rs 120,000.
